About the Company & Graduate Programme

AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development, and commercialisation of prescription medicines. In the UK, we operate at the cutting edge of innovation, transforming patient outcomes through life-changing research. Our London hub serves as a critical junction for our digital and commercial operations, housing some of the most advanced data analytics and strategic teams in the industry. As we continue to push the boundaries of what medicine can do, we are looking for ambitious graduates to join our business technology stream.

This graduate programme is pivotal to our mission of leveraging artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and advanced data architecture to accelerate drug discovery and streamline global operations. By joining us, you are not just starting a job; you are entering a high-impact environment where your contributions directly influence the delivery of healthcare solutions to millions. We pride ourselves on a culture of inclusivity, curiosity, and rapid problem-solving, providing early-career professionals with the autonomy to drive real-world impact from day one.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse complex business requirements and translate them into scalable technology solutions across our R&D or commercial divisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, data engineers, and project managers, to deliver agile projects.
  • Utilise modern tools such as Python, SQL, Tableau, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure to extract actionable insights from big data.
  • Support the development of digital tools that streamline clinical trial management and enhance patient monitoring processes.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to present findings, influence strategy, and track the progress of ongoing digital transformations.
  • Participate in end-to-end project delivery, from initial conceptualisation and requirement gathering to final deployment and maintenance.
  • Contribute to internal research and development workshops, testing emerging technologies to determine their potential for wider business adoption.

Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility

  • A minimum of a 2:1 degree in any discipline; however, STEM, Business Analytics, or Computer Science degrees are highly advantageous.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesise complex datasets into clear, business-focused recommendations.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within diverse, collaborative teams and adapt to changing project priorities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a genuine curiosity for how technology can revolutionise the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Resilience and a proactive 'can-do' attitude, especially when navigating ambiguous, fast-paced project environments.
  • Candidates must possess the permanent right to work in the UK; we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this specific intake.
  • Demonstrated interest in biopharmaceuticals, healthcare technology, or the digital innovation landscape.

Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship

This 24-month programme is structured into four six-month rotations, allowing you to gain exposure to different areas of the business, including Data Science, IT Infrastructure, Digital Health, and Commercial Strategy. This breadth of experience ensures you gain a holistic understanding of how technology functions within a global biopharma organisation, setting you up for a long-term career in leadership or expert-technical paths.

You will be fully supported throughout your journey with a dedicated graduate buddy and a senior mentor chosen from our leadership team. We invest heavily in your professional development, providing full financial support and study time for industry-recognised certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, PRINCE2, or specialised technical certifications relevant to your chosen rotation. You will also participate in structured leadership workshops and peer-to-peer learning events designed to accelerate your growth.
