About the Company & Graduate Programme

NatWest Group is the UK’s largest bank for business and a leading retail bank, serving over 19 million customers. With a heritage spanning three centuries, we are currently undergoing a radical digital transformation, pivoting towards becoming a purpose-led, data-driven organisation. Our influence extends across the UK economy, driving financial inclusion and supporting sustainable growth. By joining our Data & Digital Analytics programme, you become a core component of this transformation, working at the intersection of traditional banking stability and agile, startup-style fintech innovation.

We are deeply committed to early careers, viewing our graduate cohort as the future architects of our digital infrastructure. As a graduate in our London hub, you will be embedded within high-impact teams tackling real-world challenges, from AI-driven fraud detection to hyper-personalisation of mobile banking experiences. This intake is pivotal to our 2025 strategy, where data maturity remains our highest priority in maintaining a competitive edge in an increasingly digital-first marketplace.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary squads to develop advanced data models that predict customer behaviour and financial trends.
  • Utilise cloud-based tools (GCP/AWS) to migrate legacy datasets and build scalable analytics pipelines.
  • Lead small-scale proof-of-concept projects using Python, R, or SQL to solve specific operational inefficiencies.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to present data visualisations and actionable insights that influence board-level product decisions.
  • Participate in the design and maintenance of real-time data streaming services for mobile banking applications.
  • Automate reporting processes to improve data quality and governance standards across the Group.
  • Partner with Engineering and Cybersecurity teams to ensure data privacy and ethical AI compliance in all digital initiatives.
  • Support the delivery of high-profile initiatives designed to boost digital adoption for our most vulnerable customer segments.

Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility

  • Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in any STEM discipline, Economics, Business Analytics, or Computer Science.
  • Demonstrable passion for digital banking, data storytelling, and technological innovation.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to translate complex data into clear business narratives.
  • A collaborative mindset, comfortable working in an agile environment and contributing to cross-functional team sprints.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or R) and a foundational understanding of SQL.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical partners.
  • Must hold the legal right to work in the UK without restriction; visa sponsorship is available for successful international candidates.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a proactive attitude towards self-development and professional growth.

Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship

Our 24-month structured programme is split into three 8-month rotations, ensuring you gain a comprehensive view of the bank's digital ecosystem. You might spend time in Commercial Banking Analytics, Personal Banking Digital Experience, and our central Data Engineering division. This breadth allows you to identify where your strengths lie before choosing a permanent specialisation at the end of the programme.

Beyond rotations, you will have access to a bespoke development framework. This includes funding for industry-recognised certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, Google Professional Data Engineer, or relevant MBA modules. Every graduate is paired with a dedicated 'buddy' from the previous year's cohort and a senior mentor who provides career guidance, networking opportunities, and performance coaching throughout your journey.

Salary, Bonus & Benefits Package

  • Competitive base salary of £35,000 – £38,000 per annum depending on experience.
  • Annual performance-based bonus scheme, typically ranging between 5% and 10% of base salary.
  • Generous 12% employer pension contribution with optional salary sacrifice arrangements.
  • 30 days annual leave, plus the option to purchase up to 5 additional days.
  • Private medical insurance and a comprehensive wellbeing programme including mental health support.
  • £500 hybrid working allowance to set up your home office.
  • Interest-free season ticket loan for public transport and relocation assistance for candidates moving from outside London.
