About the Company & Graduate Programme

Rolls-Royce is a global leader in power and propulsion systems, standing at the forefront of the world's most critical technological challenges. From powering civil and defence aircraft to designing small modular reactors for clean energy, our influence spans across continents and industries. We don't just manufacture engines; we design, develop, and maintain the complex digital and mechanical systems that keep the world moving safely and efficiently. Our commitment to innovation is matched only by our dedication to early careers, as we believe the next generation of engineers and technologists will provide the breakthrough insights needed to achieve our net-zero ambitions.

This graduate intake is a pivotal moment for Rolls-Royce as we accelerate our digital transformation strategy. Joining our Digital Technology & Systems Engineering stream means you will be embedded in high-performing teams that integrate data analytics, cloud infrastructure, and advanced systems design into our physical hardware. You will be at the heart of our mission to lead the transition to sustainable power, ensuring that Rolls-Royce remains the employer of choice for those who want to solve the planet's toughest problems using the latest in aerospace and engineering technology.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in 18 to 24-month rotational placements across diverse business units, including Civil Aerospace, Defence, and Power Systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and integrate software solutions that optimize engine performance and predictive maintenance.
  • Utilize modern data analytics tools, digital twins, and cloud-based platforms to extract actionable insights from high-fidelity sensor data.
  • Participate in system architecture design reviews, ensuring that hardware and digital systems operate in seamless unison.
  • Present project findings and technical recommendations to senior stakeholders and project leads to influence key engineering decisions.
  • Apply agile methodologies to accelerate the development lifecycle of digital twin models and simulation software.
  • Support the implementation of cybersecurity protocols within sensitive defence and industrial network environments.
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions by modelling energy consumption patterns and efficiency gains.

Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility

  • Degree discipline: A minimum of a 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Analytical mindset: Ability to decompose complex problems and apply logical, data-driven reasoning to reach innovative conclusions.
  • Technical curiosity: A proactive interest in emerging technologies, specifically AI, IoT, and cloud computing as applied to industrial engineering.
  • Collaborative spirit: Proven ability to work effectively within diverse, multi-disciplinary teams across different office locations.
  • Communication skills: The ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences clearly and confidently.
  • Right to work: Candidates must hold full, valid right to work in the UK at the time of application, as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this specific intake.
  • Resilience and adaptability: A drive to learn continuously and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes engineering environment.

Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship

Your development journey is our top priority. The 24-month programme is split into structured rotations, ensuring you gain a holistic view of how digital technology integrates with physical hardware at a global scale. Throughout this period, you will be supported by a dedicated programme manager and a senior mentor—typically a Chartered Engineer or a Subject Matter Expert—who will provide career guidance, technical coaching, and networking opportunities. We invest heavily in your professional growth, providing financial support and time off for you to pursue formal professional qualifications, such as CEng status with the IET/IMechE or industry-recognised certifications in AWS or Azure.

In addition to technical training, we offer a comprehensive suite of soft-skills workshops focused on project management, leadership, and emotional intelligence. You will join a vibrant cohort of graduates, giving you an immediate peer support network that continues long after you complete the scheme. From day one, you will be treated as a professional, encouraged to take ownership of your deliverables while being protected by the structured framework and safety net of our well-established mentoring and graduate management systems.

Salary, Bonus & Benefits Package

  • Competitive base salary of £36,000 – £38,000 per annum depending on qualifications and placement.
  • Annual performance-related bonus scheme linked to individual and company objectives.
  • Generous company pension scheme with a highly competitive employer match.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell additional days.
  • Comprehensive private healthcare package, including dental and optical cover.
  • Hybrid working allowance to support your home office setup and flexibility.
  • Access to a wide range of wellbeing perks, including Employee Assistance Programmes and fitness centre discounts.
  • Full relocation assistance available for those moving to London for the duration of their rotations.
