About the Company & Graduate Programme

Jaguar Land Rover is the UK’s largest automotive manufacturer, standing at the precipice of a radical transformation toward an all-electric future. As part of our 'Reimagine' strategy, we are redefining modern luxury through sustainable innovation and cutting-edge engineering. Our London-based innovation hubs are pivotal to this transition, focusing on connected car technologies, battery management systems, and next-generation electric powertrain architecture. We believe that our graduate intake is the lifeblood of our future, providing fresh perspectives to solve the complex technical challenges of carbon-neutral mobility.

Joining our Electric Systems graduate scheme places you at the heart of an organisation that combines deep-rooted heritage with the agility of a technology firm. We foster a culture where curiosity is rewarded and cross-departmental collaboration is the norm. By integrating our graduates into live, high-impact projects, we ensure you are not merely observing our technological shift, but actively leading it. Our commitment to early careers is demonstrated through a bespoke professional development framework, designed to turn high-potential graduates into the technical leaders who will define the automotive industry for the next decade.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to design, test, and validate EV propulsion systems.
  • Develop and integrate embedded software using C++ and Python to enhance vehicle connectivity features.
  • Engage in the full product lifecycle, from initial concept simulation to rigorous hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing.
  • Analyse complex datasets from vehicle telemetry to improve battery life efficiency and performance algorithms.
  • Work alongside senior electrical engineers to troubleshoot architecture bottlenecks and refine circuit design.
  • Present project progress and technical findings to senior leadership stakeholders during quarterly programme reviews.
  • Participate in agile sprints, utilising JIRA and Confluence to manage workflows and documentation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support the implementation of over-the-air (OTA) update protocols to ensure vehicle software remains at the cutting edge.

Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility

  • Must hold or be on track to receive a 2:1 degree (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering.
  • Demonstrable passion for the automotive sector and the rapid shift toward electrified transport and autonomous systems.
  • Exceptional analytical mindset, with the ability to break down complex technical problems into actionable solutions.
  • Proven experience in working collaboratively within team environments, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency in at least one programming language (C, C++, or Python) and familiarity with simulation tools like MATLAB or Simulink.
  • Resilience and a growth mindset, capable of adapting to changing priorities in a highly dynamic engineering environment.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK without restriction; visa sponsorship is available for successful international candidates meeting criteria.
  • We encourage applications from all backgrounds, valuing diversity of thought as a cornerstone of innovative engineering design.

Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship

Our 24-month programme is structured across four six-month rotations, ensuring you gain a comprehensive understanding of the Electric Systems lifecycle. You will rotate through core areas such as Battery Systems, Electric Drive Units, Software Architecture, and Systems Validation. This structure ensures that you build both technical depth and broad commercial awareness. We provide full financial support and time-off for those pursuing chartership (CEng) via the IET or equivalent professional bodies, ensuring your career progression is industry-recognised.

Beyond technical development, you will be paired with a dedicated 'buddy'—a former graduate who can help you navigate your first few months—and a senior mentor from the engineering leadership team. This mentorship pairing is designed to provide long-term career coaching, networking opportunities, and insights into the strategic direction of Jaguar Land Rover. You will also participate in internal workshops focused on soft skills, project management, and leadership, ensuring you are equipped with the holistic toolkit required to succeed in a senior capacity post-programme.

Salary, Bonus & Benefits Package

  • Competitive base salary of £36,500 per annum, with annual performance-based salary reviews.
  • £2,000 sign-on bonus upon successful commencement of the programme.
  • Excellent pension scheme with company matching contributions up to 10%.
  • 26 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase additional days.
  • Private medical insurance and a comprehensive wellbeing programme, including mental health support.
  • Hybrid working allowance to support your home office setup for flexible working days.
  • Access to vehicle discount schemes and corporate partnerships across UK retailers.
  • Relocation assistance available for those moving to London for the duration of the scheme.
