Join a 24-month Technology Graduate programme at Barclays in London, offering rotational placements and professional certifications. Gain exposure to global financial infrastructure while building a career in one of the world's leading fintech organisations.

About the Company & Graduate Programme

Barclays is a British universal bank, rooted in over 300 years of history, yet defined by our drive to innovate in the heart of London’s financial hub. We operate at the intersection of traditional finance and cutting-edge technology, powering the global economy through digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data-driven platforms. Our commitment to early careers is unmatched; we view our graduates as the architects of our future digital transformation. By joining Barclays, you are not just starting a job; you are entering a high-impact environment where your contributions directly influence the way millions of people manage their finances, pay for goods, and plan for their futures.

This graduate intake is pivotal to our ongoing mission to integrate AI, cloud-native computing, and sustainable fintech solutions into our core banking services. We foster a culture of inclusive innovation where high-potential individuals are encouraged to challenge the status quo. From our Canary Wharf headquarters, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams spanning engineering, product, and operations, gaining a panoramic view of how technology sustains one of the world's most significant financial institutions. We invest heavily in our graduates, providing the resources, mentorship, and project exposure required to fast-track your transition from an academic setting to a high-performing professional.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in two 12-month rotational placements across diverse technology departments, including Cyber Security, Cloud Engineering, FinTech Innovation, or Global Markets Technology.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to gather complex requirements and translate them into scalable software solutions using Agile methodologies.
  • Gain hands-on experience with modern tech stacks, including Python, Java, AWS/Azure cloud environments, and containerisation technologies like Kubernetes.
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from initial design and rapid prototyping to deployment and system maintenance.
  • Engage in automated testing, CI/CD pipeline improvements, and data analytics tasks to optimise banking platform performance.
  • Participate in 'hackathons' and internal innovation labs aimed at solving real-world challenges for our retail and corporate clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships across global teams, communicating technical progress to non-technical business partners.

Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility

  • Final year students or recent graduates (within the last 2 years) from any degree discipline, though STEM or quantitative subjects are highly desirable.
  • A minimum predicted or achieved 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with an aptitude for picking up new technologies quickly.
  • Strong collaborative spirit; we look for individuals who thrive in diverse, cross-cultural team environments.
  • A proactive mindset with a keen interest in the future of financial technology and digital banking.
  • Clear evidence of leadership, extracurricular involvement, or intellectual curiosity outside of academic requirements.
  • Applicants must hold the right to work in the UK for the duration of the programme (we provide limited visa sponsorship for exceptional international candidates under the Graduate Route).

Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship

Our structured 24-month scheme is designed to build both your technical depth and your leadership breadth. The programme begins with an intensive bootcamp covering core banking fundamentals, cloud certification pathways, and agile delivery frameworks. Following this, you will rotate through two distinct teams, ensuring that you gain exposure to both back-end infrastructure and customer-facing digital products. We don't just provide work; we provide a curriculum of professional development, supporting you in obtaining industry-recognised certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, CFA foundations, or Scrum Master credentials.

Support is a cornerstone of our programme. Every graduate is paired with a dedicated 'Buddy' from the previous year’s cohort to help navigate the transition to the corporate environment. You will also be assigned a Senior Mentor—usually a Vice President or Director—who provides career guidance, long-term strategic advice, and advocacy. Regular check-ins with our Early Careers team and persistent feedback loops ensure that you remain challenged and aligned with your individual career goals throughout your two-year journey with us.

  • Joining bonus of £2,000 paid in your first month.
