Join Amazon's 24-month Cloud Software Development programme in London to build scalable AWS infrastructure. Benefit from two diverse rotations, intensive technical training, and expert mentorship while shaping the future of global technology.

About the Company & Graduate Programme

Amazon stands at the forefront of the global digital economy, with its UK operations serving as a critical hub for innovation, logistics, and cloud computing excellence. Our London engineering centres are instrumental in driving the architecture of AWS, where we solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges at scale. As a company driven by our 'Day 1' philosophy, we foster an environment of relentless invention, where graduate talent is empowered to think big, experiment, and deliver tangible results that impact millions of customers globally.

Our Graduate Cloud Software Development programme is a cornerstone of our early career strategy. We recognise that the future of cloud computing lies in the hands of the next generation of engineers, which is why this intake is specifically designed to transition high-potential talent into full-scale ownership. You will be joining a culture that values customer obsession, deep dive analytics, and the audacity to challenge the status quo, ensuring you are not just building software, but shaping the digital infrastructure of the future.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable cloud-native applications using Java, Python, and C++ within distributed systems environments.
  • Participate in full-lifecycle software engineering, from architectural design and coding to rigorous testing and production deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and senior cloud architects, to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Utilise modern cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to ensure high availability, security, and performance for AWS services.
  • Engage in code reviews and pair programming sessions to maintain Amazon’s high bar for engineering excellence and code quality.
  • Investigate and resolve complex system issues, contributing to root cause analysis and implementing long-term preventative measures.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to drive project efficiency.

Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility

  • Final year undergraduate or master's students pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM fields.
  • A minimum of a 2:1 degree classification (or predicted) from a recognised UK or international university.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, C++, or Go) and a strong grasp of data structures and algorithms.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex technical problems into manageable, actionable components.
  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrating an ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative spirit, showing experience in working within diverse teams to achieve shared objectives under pressure.
  • Right to work in the UK without restriction; we provide full visa sponsorship for international candidates who meet our hiring criteria.

Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship

Over the 24-month duration, graduates will participate in two structured 12-month rotations within different AWS product teams. This ensures exposure to various facets of our technology stack, from data storage solutions to machine learning platforms. Training is immersive, involving bespoke Amazon technical bootcamps, internal certification paths for AWS Solutions Architect roles, and ongoing access to an extensive library of professional development resources.

Each graduate is paired with a dedicated 'Buddy' from their immediate team for day-to-day integration and a senior 'Mentor' who provides long-term career coaching. This dual-support framework ensures that you are technically grounded while also gaining visibility into the strategic landscape of the company, providing you with the tools necessary to thrive in our fast-paced, customer-obsessed environment.

Salary, Bonus & Benefits Package

  • Competitive base salary of £42,000 per annum, reflecting the technical nature of the role.
  • Annual performance-based bonus scheme, typically ranging between 5-10% of base salary.
  • Comprehensive pension scheme with Amazon matching contributions of up to 7%.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell additional days.
  • Private medical insurance and mental health support services, including access to 24/7 virtual GP appointments.
