About the Company & Graduate Programme

AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development, and commercialisation of prescription medicines. With a significant footprint in the UK, including major R&D hubs and our corporate headquarters in Cambridge and London, we are at the forefront of tackling some of the world's most complex healthcare challenges. Our culture is defined by 'following the science' and an unwavering commitment to patient outcomes, which requires a diverse range of talent across our commercial and strategic business units.

This graduate intake is pivotal to our mission of delivering life-changing medicines. As a Graduate Commercial & Strategy Analyst, you will be embedded within our UK business, working on high-impact projects that shape how we bring therapies to market. We value early careers professionals who can challenge the status quo, bring fresh perspectives, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation is the currency of success. You will join a cohort of passionate individuals dedicated to shaping the future of global healthcare.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Market Access, and Medical Affairs, to refine product launch strategies.
  • Analyse large-scale market data sets using tools such as Tableau, SQL, and advanced Excel to identify emerging healthcare trends.
  • Support senior stakeholders in preparing quarterly business reviews and long-range planning documentation.
  • Engage in rotational placements that provide exposure to patient advocacy, digital health solutions, and government affairs.
  • Lead discrete workstreams on cross-departmental projects, ensuring milestones are met within defined timeframes.
  • Translate complex clinical data into compelling commercial narratives for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Participate in digital transformation initiatives, leveraging AI/ML insights to optimise our patient support programmes.
  • Provide real-time reporting on therapy area performance against key KPIs in the highly regulated UK pharmaceutical market.

Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility

  • A minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in any discipline; STEM, Business, Economics, or Life Sciences backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent analytical mindset with a demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of influencing senior-level stakeholders.
  • Collaborative spirit with a track record of working effectively in team environments, including academic or extracurricular projects.
  • Proven resilience and adaptability when faced with ambiguous challenges in a high-pressure corporate setting.
  • Passion for healthcare and an interest in understanding the complex regulatory and commercial dynamics of the UK pharmaceutical industry.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK without restriction; AstraZeneca supports Graduate Route visa holders.
  • High level of digital literacy and willingness to learn bespoke industry software and data visualisation platforms.

Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship

Our 24-month programme is structured into four 6-month rotations, allowing you to gain breadth of experience across the business. Each rotation is carefully selected to build your commercial acumen, from supply chain strategy to frontline market access. We believe in continuous development; therefore, you will receive financial and administrative support to pursue relevant professional qualifications, such as CIMA, CFA, or specific project management certifications like Prince2 or Agile/Scrum credentials.

Support is the cornerstone of your journey. Upon joining, you will be paired with a dedicated 'Buddy' from the previous graduate cohort to help you navigate our culture, alongside a senior Mentor—typically a Director-level leader—who will guide your long-term career aspirations. Furthermore, you will have access to our internal AstraZeneca University, which provides on-demand training modules on leadership, data analytics, and ethical conduct within the healthcare industry.
