About the Company & Graduate Programme
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) stands at the pinnacle of British automotive engineering, reimagining the future of modern luxury through our 'Reimagine' strategy. With a footprint that spans advanced manufacturing sites and R&D centres across the UK, we are currently undergoing the most significant transformation in our history as we transition toward a pure-electric future. Our culture is defined by a relentless drive for innovation, sustainability, and high-performance engineering that challenges the status quo of the global mobility industry.
Our Graduate Programme is designed to identify and nurture the next generation of visionary engineers and business leaders. As a graduate hire, you become a pivotal part of a multidisciplinary team tasked with solving some of the most complex challenges in propulsion, software, and autonomous vehicle technology. We recognise that the ideas of today will define the vehicle experience of 2030, and we provide you with the scale, technical infrastructure, and global collaborative environment necessary to make a tangible impact on our product pipeline from your very first week.
What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, simulate, and test advanced electric propulsion systems using industry-leading CAD and CAE software.
- Engage in rotational placements across Research, Product Development, and Software Integration to gain a holistic view of the vehicle lifecycle.
- Utilise Python, MATLAB, and Simulink to model powertrain performance and optimise battery thermal management systems for luxury vehicle segments.
- Work alongside senior stakeholders to present project findings, suggesting efficiency improvements or design modifications based on data-driven insights.
- Manage small-scale project workstreams, ensuring delivery aligns with JLR’s rigorous safety, quality, and environmental compliance standards.
- Actively participate in agile development sprints, contributing to the deployment of over-the-air (OTA) software updates for our current fleet.
- Translate complex technical requirements into actionable blueprints for our manufacturing and supplier partners.
Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility
- Minimum 2:1 degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Software), Physics, or Mathematics.
- A deep-seated passion for automotive technology and a genuine interest in the transition to sustainable electrification.
- Proven analytical mindset with the ability to synthesise complex technical data into clear, persuasive narratives for diverse audiences.
- Strong collaborative skills, with a track record of thriving in team-based project environments or academic research groups.
- Candidates must possess the right to work in the UK without sponsorship restrictions (though we provide assistance for eligible visa-holders via the Graduate Route).
- Resilience and problem-solving agility, particularly when navigating ambiguous technical constraints or tight design deadlines.
- Demonstrable curiosity and a 'growth mindset' that seeks out feedback and continuous professional development.
Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship
Your 24-month journey is structured into three eight-month rotations, ensuring you build both depth and breadth in your chosen specialism. Throughout the scheme, you will be enrolled in our 'Future Leaders' professional development curriculum, which provides bespoke training in leadership, project management, and cross-cultural communication. We provide full financial and time-allocation support for graduates seeking professional chartership with the IET or IMechE, ensuring your work contributes directly toward your CEng status.
To ensure your success, you will be paired with a dedicated 'Early Careers Buddy'—a recent graduate who has successfully navigated the scheme—and a Senior Mentor from your department. This mentorship pairing offers you direct access to the insights and networking opportunities required to accelerate your career. Whether you are seeking technical mastery or a transition into strategic leadership, your support network ensures you are equipped with the resources to achieve your long-term career aspirations at JLR.
