About the Company & Graduate Programme
Arm is at the heart of the world's most advanced digital technologies. From the smartphone in your pocket to the supercomputers driving AI innovation, our architecture powers billions of devices globally. As a UK-headquartered tech giant with a footprint spanning the globe, we are committed to fostering the next generation of engineers who will define the future of computing. Our culture is built on innovation, collaboration, and 'The Arm Way'—a set of values that prioritize curiosity and excellence in every silicon design project we undertake.
This graduate intake is pivotal to our mission of scaling the next wave of energy-efficient, high-performance CPU architectures. We view our graduates not as trainees, but as junior innovators capable of solving complex physical and logical design challenges. By joining the London team, you will be embedded within a high-stakes engineering environment where your contributions directly influence the hardware roadmaps that lead the semiconductor industry into the next decade.
What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the full hardware development lifecycle, from micro-architectural specification to physical implementation.
- Utilize industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys) for logic synthesis, static timing analysis, and power optimization.
- Collaborate with senior verification engineers to develop testbenches and verify RTL designs using SystemVerilog and UVM methodologies.
- Engage with cross-functional teams, including Software and Physical IP units, to ensure seamless integration of CPU cores into high-performance SoC designs.
- Automate repetitive workflows using Python or Tcl scripting to enhance productivity and design throughput.
- Conduct post-layout analysis to ensure designs meet strict power, performance, and area (PPA) constraints.
- Present technical findings and design trade-offs to senior leads and principal engineers during milestone reviews.
Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility
- Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Strong foundational understanding of digital logic, computer architecture, and semiconductor physics.
- Proficiency in at least one hardware description language (Verilog/SystemVerilog) or a high-level programming language (C++/Python).
- An analytical mindset with a passion for troubleshooting complex, abstract problems in a high-pressure environment.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team, demonstrating strong communication skills when explaining technical concepts.
- Demonstrable curiosity about the future of AI, mobile computing, and sustainable semiconductor hardware.
- Right-to-work in the UK without restriction (or ability to secure the Graduate Route visa for the duration of the programme).
Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship
The 24-month programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and world-class industrial practice. You will complete two 12-month rotations across our core engineering divisions, ensuring you gain a comprehensive view of how our CPU architecture translates into commercial silicon. Throughout these rotations, you will have access to bespoke technical training modules covering ARMv9 architecture, advanced verification techniques, and physical design flows.
To ensure your success, every graduate is assigned a senior mentor—an experienced engineer who provides technical guidance—and a 'buddy' from a previous cohort to help you navigate the company culture. We support professional development through structured pathways, including pathways toward Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the IET/BCS, and sponsorship for relevant cloud computing (AWS/Azure) or technical certification exams.
Salary, Bonus & Benefits Package
- Competitive base salary of £36,500 per annum.
- Annual performance-related bonus scheme based on personal and company objectives.
- Generous pension contribution (up to 12% company match).
- 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays and the option to buy/sell extra days.
- Comprehensive private healthcare, including dental and optical coverage, and access to an employee assistance programme.
- Hybrid working allowance to ensure your home office setup is ergonomic and efficient.
- Relocation assistance package for candidates moving to London.
