About the Company & Graduate Programme
Arm is at the heart of the world’s technology, designing the processors that power everything from the smallest sensors to the most powerful supercomputers. With a UK-originated footprint that influences the global semiconductor landscape, we provide the architecture for over 250 billion chips currently in use. Our culture is built on the belief that everyone has a role to play in building the future of computing, and our graduate intake is the cornerstone of this philosophy. We seek high-potential individuals who are eager to challenge the status quo and contribute to energy-efficient, high-performance computing solutions that define the modern age.
This graduate programme is pivotal to our mission. By joining Arm, you are not just entering a role; you are entering an ecosystem of global innovation. You will be immersed in a collaborative environment where cross-functional engineering teams develop the technologies that power billions of devices. We are committed to fostering the next generation of engineers, ensuring that our graduates have the resources, technical infrastructure, and expert mentorship required to succeed in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior architects to design and verify advanced IP blocks for next-generation system-on-chip (SoC) architectures.
- Utilize industry-standard hardware description languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog) to implement and test complex RTL designs.
- Participate in the end-to-end silicon lifecycle, from architectural specification and micro-architecture definition to pre-silicon verification.
- Work with modern EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools to simulate and optimize performance, power, and area (PPA) metrics.
- Engage in cross-team knowledge sharing sessions to understand how our hardware interfaces with software ecosystems and compilers.
- Support technical documentation efforts, ensuring that design specifications are robust, scalable, and clear for internal stakeholders.
- Execute performance analysis using cycle-accurate simulators to identify potential bottlenecks in the hardware execution pipeline.
Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility
- Degree qualification in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a closely related STEM discipline (achieving a 2:1 or above).
- A foundational understanding of computer architecture, digital logic design, and semiconductor physics.
- Demonstrated ability to approach complex problem-solving with an analytical and methodical mindset.
- Excellent teamwork capabilities, with a desire to operate within a diverse, global, and highly collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical peers.
- Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, or Perl) is highly advantageous.
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship restrictions (or eligibility under the Graduate Route visa for the duration of the programme).
Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship
Our 24-month Graduate Programme is designed to provide breadth and depth. Over the two years, you will rotate across three key engineering departments, such as Architecture, Implementation, and Verification. This rotational structure allows you to gain a holistic view of the chip design process while identifying the specific technical area where you can have the most impact. You will be supported by a dedicated 'Buddy' who will help you settle into life at Arm, alongside a senior mentor who will guide your career trajectory and provide technical leadership.
Beyond technical rotations, we prioritize your professional accreditation. For those pursuing a career in engineering, we offer full support and sponsorship for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status through the IET. You will have access to internal learning portals, external technical conferences, and a continuous training budget to sharpen your skills in emerging fields like Machine Learning acceleration or security hardware.
