About the Company & Graduate Programme

BAE Systems is at the forefront of the global defence and security sector, providing advanced, technology-led solutions to meet the most complex challenges in an increasingly digital world. In our Digital Intelligence business, we operate at the intersection of data science, cyber security, and advanced engineering. We are looking for the next generation of innovators to join our graduate programme, which serves as a pivotal entry point into a career defined by meaningful impact, technical rigour, and national security contribution.

Our culture is built on continuous improvement and the belief that our people are our greatest asset. As a graduate, you will be embedded within cross-functional teams, gaining exposure to critical UK infrastructure projects that protect millions. We champion an environment where curiosity is encouraged, diversity of thought is fundamental, and every graduate has the opportunity to influence the direction of our digital transformation initiatives from day one.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a series of rotations across software engineering, systems architecture, and cyber data analytics departments.
  • Translate complex client requirements into technical specifications for large-scale security projects.
  • Develop and deploy automation scripts using Python and Terraform to improve internal operational efficiency.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to present data-driven insights and project progress reports.
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) using Agile methodologies in a secure environment.
  • Utilise cloud infrastructure tools (AWS/Azure) to build scalable, resilient solutions for our public sector partners.
  • Conduct rigorous system testing and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with stringent defence industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary squads to troubleshoot and resolve high-priority system architecture bottlenecks.

Who We Are Looking For & Candidate Eligibility

  • A minimum 2:1 degree (or predicted) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
  • A passion for solving complex, real-world problems using creative, technology-focused solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within diverse, collaborative team environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of distilling technical information for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with an aptitude for picking up new programming languages and technical tools quickly.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and satisfy security clearance requirements (SC level).
  • Strong motivation to contribute to the UK’s technological sovereignty and defence security landscape.

Graduate Training, Rotations & Mentorship

Our 24-month structured graduate programme is designed to provide you with a holistic view of the business. You will undertake three 8-month rotations across different business units, ensuring a well-rounded skill set that combines deep technical knowledge with strategic business awareness. Throughout this period, you will be supported by a structured training plan that includes external certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or industry-recognised cybersecurity credentials.

You will be paired with an experienced buddy from the previous year’s intake and a senior manager mentor. This dual-layer support system ensures you have both practical, day-to-day guidance and long-term career coaching. We host regular technical seminars, networking events, and leadership workshops to help you build your internal network and accelerate your professional development throughout the programme.
